Our regular Church Services (see the footer to this page for the latest)

We are part of the Church of England and hold services once a month USUALLY on the second Sunday each month, starting at 11.30am - except during June when the Art Show is on. We usually post details of any changes to normal services on www.facebook.com/PalladianAyot or visit achurchnearyou.co.uk  which is the general Anglican church website and has more specific information about our style of service, which is occasionally BCP but frequently more up-to-date.   (You will need to enter "Ayot St Lawrence" in the details box on this webpage). We only have one active church, called  (surprise) St Lawrence, but beware! On occasions we also hold services in the ruined church, notably our Patronal Festival, typically on the second Sunday in August and our Pet Service, typically at the end of August or the first Sunday (afternoon) or September. Both services are weather dependent: if rain threatens, we go to the church with a roof! Below is a picture of the Pet Service in the ruined church; note the religiosity of the dogs and the man asking for cat reinforcements on the phone to make things even more lively; there were horses lurking too! Our vicar was unwisely bending down to bless a dog.....

SErvices in  2020

Sadly many services have been cancelled as a result of Covid-19 (as at 5 November 2020). This means we will not be at the Village War Memorial on Sunday 8th November, although a poppy wreath will be laid and a two minute silence observed. You are more than welcome to come along.
Our Christmas service this year will take place at 21.00 on 24 December. If you'd like to help us decorate the church with hanging angels, please contact us so we can book you in for a time slot along with your own family group or "bubble".
Usually  our services will take place on the third Sunday of the month at 11.30. After any of these services, in normal times, why not book yourself in for lunch at the lovely Brocket Arms, originally the monastic quarters for the old, now ruined church a short stroll away 01438 820250. At present the pub is closed because of Covid restrictions.
